Streetwear is Dead, So is Fact Checking
A recent post by Complex highlighted the above mural, a play on Atlanta-based artist SEVER’s “Street Art is Dead”. The original is a relevant tongue-in-cheek synthesis of the current state of commercialism in street art (see: Mr. Brainwash). The current version of the mural replaces the heads with the logos of premier streetwear brands like Mishka, Supreme, and Bape. This has gotten a lot of traction in the blogosphere. The only problem with this is that according to the Mishka bloglin, this was NOT done by SEVER, as the Complex article states, but instead was a send-up of the original by artist Yaiagift.
